> Case Study
Business Model Customer, which is the subsidiary of a largest business group, is India’s second largest MSO offering multiple services. Customer has over 20% coverage of the cable & satellite households in India. It is currently delivering Cable TV services in 12 major cities of India. In addition, Customer also provides Internet-on-Cable services in 8 of these cities. Customer reaches out to the subscribers spread across the country through its own head ends, distributors and franchisees. The below flow diagram illustrates how MQSubscribe™ is being accessed by two regional offices and 60 Head Ends spread across the country. A total of 50 users access the system at a given point of time to perform the day-to-day transactions.
Customer has two Regional offices and distributes content through Headends who in turn distribute it to the Headend Subscribers. Customer distributes the content of other content providers by bundling them into packages. The Head Ends book the subscribers and place the order for the required packages and hardware. The Head-ends in turn put a request to the respective regional offices that approve the orders and provide the required hardware. Customer has deployed MQSubscribe™ to manage its subscriber billing and inventory. Customer had the following objectives to be achieved by deploying a subscriber management and billing system.
Solution from MagnaQuest MagnaQuest implemented its convergent customer management and billing solution, MQSubscribe™, at Customer. MQSubscribe™ integrates billing, customer care, inventory & logistics and CAS activations/ deactivations, among other functions, thus providing an integrated IT solution to manage the operations in the forthcoming times of CAS-driven complexity. MQSubscribe Framework
The solution also includes deployment and management of pre-paid cards as a mode of payment. The topping-up of accounts would be performed though an IVRS system and all customer queries and complaints would be handled by a third party call center. Business Process Flow
Highlights of MQSubscribe™ ICC/STB Association The pairing process is required to enable the ICC and STB to operate together. Pairing also binds the ICC with STB so that, the ICC can only be used with the STB it has been paired with. Unless pairing data is overwritten on the ICC, the ICC is permanently paired to the STB. In order to pair an STB with ICC serial numbers of card and STB are required. MQSubscribe™ sends a pairing request will be sent to CAS once the association is successfully done. Hardware Replacement Subscribers may return the hardware in case of repair or replacement and will take new hardware. In this case MQSubscribe™ handles the unpairing of ICC and STB and new paring with new/replaced hardware. Calculation of Multiple Taxes At Customer, multiple taxes are imposed on each sale that is made. The taxes could be sale tax, lease tax, service tax etc. The taxes should be applied on each sale of subscription / hardware/ other services, taxes have to be paid and have to be reflected in the invoice generated. The comprehensive Tax module in MQSubscribe™ has enabled the definition of following tax rules to handle the multiple taxes on sale of several services and hardware items.
IVRS Integration MQSubscribe™ successfully integrated with CTI Server to accept the calls from IVRS client and redirect to respective MQS client users to authenticate the subscriber, Pin Number Validation, query Subscriber balance and change Pin etc., SAP Integration MQSubscribe™ successfully integrated with SAP, the ERP system at Customer place. Interface is developed to export data to the SAP Finance module to post the data with respect to STB sales, Channel Susbcripitons, Franchise direct subscribers, Franchise accounts and collections.
